Hugh Boswell in Norwich, Norfolk and founded in 1906 were customers secured from a Club Elite
event held at the CGU Ipswich branch in June 1999. They were a big and well-known brokerage
arranging personal, commercial and specialist insurances, risk management services with a fi nancial
services arm that was built-into the main site. The Bureau registered their Domains names, set-up a
SMTP email network server, designed their corporate brochures, risk management guide and product
literature as well as creating their first Website. A little later in the relationship The Bureau designed
a specialist motor traders’ Website mentioned later in this e-book.

The Institute of Independent Insurance Brokers
___________________________________
The Institute of Independent Insurance Brokers* in the historical town Higham Ferrers in
Northamptonshire forged a close connection with The Bureau in late 1999. The IIB competed for
members with the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) and possibly had more members in
those days. They hosted IIB membership events all over the country, including Andrew Paddick’s
biggest initiative, ‘Broker Direct’, that promised to shake-up the insurance sector. The Bureau
registered the IIB’s first Domains, email service and Website. Andrew Paddick was passionate about
everything he did and ruffled a few feathers in his time. It was a great loss when he suddenly died in
2008. Shame he is not still around; what would he have made of the current insurance broker sector?
