A good number of the Club Elite brokers were also Misys users* who had their own User
Group who invited The Bureau to do ‘Club Elite’ style presentations to their User Group
members. It attended about 15 Misys User Group events from which it secured a lot of
new business. Some Misys brokers were large firms with more than one branch and helped
grow The Bureau’s customer base throughout the country.
Andrew Paddick, founder and Director of the ‘Independent Insurance Brokers’ association
also become a customer of The Bureau, placing their own order for an IIB Website.
This decision encouraged IIB members to request quotes from The Bureau and new
orders from their members began to arrive.
The Insurance Brokers Regulatory
Council (IBRC) was the regulatory
body at the time in the early 90’s.
This was superseded by the
General Insurance Standards
Council (GISC), followed by the
Financial Services Authority (FSA)
and now Financial Conduct
Authority (FCA), the current
regulatory authority.
The Bureau was making headline news in the insurance and financial trade press who were
all interested in the work it was doing for brokers and IFAs; their prime audience.
This resulted in the insurance and financial trade press publishing news about the initiatives
like the CGU Club Elite, IIB and Misys User Group meetings.
