Associations with insurers helped The Bureau
secure its first big assignment with CGU
Insurance* when it was asked to run a series
of ‘Internet Talks’ to CGU’s ‘Club Elite’ brokers*,
with the first talk held at St Helens, the then CGU
Insurance’s Head Office, opposite Lloyd’s of London, on the 16th floor on 11th February
1999. The Bureau then went on to manage the whole programme of 20+ Internet talks
around the country at each of CGU’s regional offi ces.
The Club Elite Internet Workshops* helped kick start The Bureau and its long history of
serving broker and IFA firms throughout the UK.
The Workshops became a huge success and
boosted The Bureau’s emerging reputation as
a specialist Website designer. Each Workshop
was followed by new enquiries and orders for
Domain registrations, email services and Websites.
The Internet became a new way for brokers to
sell insurance and all were keen to get started.
The Bureau was probably the only Website
designer in the insurance sector at the time
and soon became the brokers’ choice.
It proved to be an exciting time when
The Bureau was receiving good reviews for
its Workshops, with some resulting in early
morning calls from brokers wanting a Domain
name registered and or Website designed.
In the first year of the CGU initiative, most of The Bureau’s business came from Club Elite
brokers. Since these were the brokers that CGU considered their best brokers, The Bureau
designed sites for some of the most respected brokers in the country. Word soon got round
about the work The Bureau was doing for Club Elite brokers and it was not long before other
brokers and IFAs were knocking at its door.
